T.J. Pecoraro produced the Sunday start
Vanderbilt was looking for.
In just his third start of the season and first in the
weekend rotation in two months, the right-hander helped lift
the third-ranked Commodores to a 5-1 victory over Georgia
and another series victory.
Pecoraro, who has pitched just four times since Feb. 17 due
to inflammation in his knees, allowed just one run on five
hits in 4.2 innings. Though he didn’t pitch the minimum five
innings to get the win, the junior set the table for
Vanderbilt to pick up its 10th straight series victory.
T.J.
Pecoraro
was outstanding over 7.2
innings to earn the win. Nashville, Tenn. – The post-season
accolades continue to grow for Vanderbilt with freshmen pitcher
T.J. Pecoraro
being named
Freshman All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball
Writers Association.
Pecoraro’s first season as a Commodore was an overwhelming
success with the Dix Hills, NY native going 7-0 with a 1.59 ERA
in 17 games, including six starts. His first collegiate campaign
came to an end in the opening game of the Southeastern
Conference Tournament against Georgia when the right-hander
injured his elbow.
